The Abortion Pill
At Sophia Women’s Center, we understand the difficult decisions and emotions that can come with an unplanned pregnancy. Our compassionate support team provides you with the facts and resources necessary to make the best decision for you. Our team of healthcare professionals is here and ready to help.
What Is the Abortion Pill?
The abortion pill is a pregnancy termination option for early pregnancy. Often referred to as medical abortion or medication abortion, the abortion pill consists of 2 different pills/medications. These pills are typically taken 24-48 hours apart and work together to terminate the pregnancy.
How Does the Abortion Pill Work?
The first dose of the abortion pill works to block progesterone, which is a hormone needed to maintain a healthy pregnancy. The second medication is then taken to induce early labor, which causes cramping and bleeding, ultimately expelling the embryo and pregnancy tissues from the uterus.
How Much Does the Abortion Pill Cost?
The price of the abortion pill varies, depending on the medical facility you choose, your insurance coverage, and how far along you are in your pregnancy. In the state of Ohio, the typical cost ranges from $300-$800+.
Our team is familiar with the process and costs for each abortion method and is here to help you understand your options. We offer free pre-abortion screenings and options consultations, with no insurance required.
